Paddington Station
Helical plc selected The Boundary to visualise its landmark Paddington Over Station Development.
Working closely with Helical and in collaboration with Grimshaw Architects, our artists crafted a series of CGIs that helped define and communicate the project as it evolved, playing a central role in its journey towards securing £220 million for delivery.
Created during mid-winter, the imagery required the team to look beyond the realities of site conditions to translate an ambitious design into a compelling visual narrative. Captured just before Christmas, with limited daylight available, The Boundary carefully reconstructed lighting, atmosphere and warmth that simply did not exist at the time.
Moments of activity, including a canal-side coffee truck and everyday movement through the space were introduced to convey rhythm and scale, helping stakeholders understand not just the architecture, but the life around it.
Particular attention was paid to the eastern entrance to Paddington Station, including the bike storage located beneath the bridge - an area that, at the time, lacked identity or visual appeal.
Through detailed environmental modelling and considered storytelling, The Boundary transformed an incomplete and challenging setting into a believable public realm.
